Living with diabetes is a constant balancing act. It’s like doing everything in your daily life while keeping a balloon in the air.
That’s where the #BlueBalloonChallenge comes in! This year, we will focus on raising awareness and shining a light on the champions and loved ones who support those living with type 1 diabetes.
Medtronic will be donating to Breakthrough T1D to support their work to achieve affordable access to current therapies, drive adoption of innovative technologies and fund research for future T1D breakthroughs.
Take part in the challenge and together, we can make the invisible, visible.
How to join the challenge and spread awareness
1. Capture yourself
Shoot a video or snap a photo of yourself bouncing a blue balloon in the air doing routine activities or embarking on a fun adventure - get creative!
2. Share it
Share your video or photo on social media using the hashtag #BlueBalloonChallenge and tag @medtronicdiabetes and @dedoc_org. Be sure to tag a friend to complete the challenge too!

About Breakthrough T1D
“Breakthrough T1D, formerly JDRF, is a leader in global type 1 diabetes research and advocacy. They are committed to advancing treatments, influencing policy, and improving access to care for all those impacted by T1D.”

#dedoc° is a global community by and for people with diabetes.
Since 2020, our #dedoc° voices scholarship programme has enabled people with diabetes from over 100 countries to attend major international conferences. More than 400 voices have taken part so far – not as silent observers, but as experts in their own right, bringing lived experience to the table at events like EASD, ADA, ATTD, ISPAD and many more.
Beyond that, we create event formats and develop participatory communication strategies – always with one goal: to make people with diabetes visible. In the community – and wherever diabetes is being discussed: in the media, in politics, in research and in healthcare.
Medtronic is one of the world's largest providers of healthcare solutions. In the past year, Medtronic therapies have improved the lives of more than 72 million people. That's 2 people per second. Ever since the late 1940s, we have worked with others to relieve pain, promote healing, and extend lives. For over 30 years, Medtronic has worked with the global diabetes community to help people with diabetes enjoy greater freedom and better health.
